Maeve has enjoyed her first year in Brownies. She has sold over 140 boxes of cookies so thank you to our family and friends for support. The cookie sales help the troop do so many fun activities. They've learned about service and philanthropy and entrepreneurship. They've also been able to see the Nutcracker, and go dog sledding and horseback riding. She's looking forward to a cooking class and sock hop to end the year!
Cecilia is doing a great job reading - it feels like she started reading complete books without much help almost overnight! She enjoys reading and her favorites include Dr. Suess' Cat in the Hat, There was an Old Lady that swallowed a bell, and all sorts of books that she brings home from the school library. Her bag is so heavy with all the books she loves to bring home - we've learned about the history of Florida and California, sharks, mummies, and cookbooks. She has eclectic taste so far!
Maeve had her First Reconciliation. She talked to Father Kevin and it was a nice, relaxed atmosphere in the open area of the Church. We are happy that she is growing in her faith!
We had a great President's Day weekend in San Diego where we visited La Jolla and Coronado and went to the San Diego zoo and Sea World. The flight out there wasn't great with Cecilia's flare up of asthma and coughing the whole time. We dealt with that most of the trip and started her on steroids once we got back. Now it's back under control but was a bit stressful. We also got a glimpse into what it will be like in a few weeks when we go to Disney World as the kids argue over who gets to sit in the rented stroller at Sea World or want snacks at inopportune times (like just as we get on VIP tours). We also know that Cecilia loves rides and really wanted to go on the roller coasters at Sea World (but since we didn't think about that we hadn't planned to and didn't want to wait for hours).
